Application forms may be downloaded from the internet or requested by mail or entered online. Online entry is preferred. Please note that there are different forms for U.S. applicants and international applicants. If you are requesting an application by mail or e-mail, please provide your name, current mailing address, email address, phone number, current GPA (grade point average), TOEFL or TSE score (for International applicants), GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores if available, and general area of interest.

PROGRAMS OF STUDY

The Department of Chemistry offers Ph.D. and M.S. programs with research specialization in analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. In general, students are admitted into the PhD program for the Fall semester only. Self-supported students may be admitted to the M.S. program. Research projects in cross-disciplinary areas such as biophysical, bioinorganic, bioorganic, organometallic, and materials chemistry are also available. Ph.D. and M.S. students take a balanced program of course work, seminars, and research. During their first year, students establish proficiency by exams and/or courses in 3 of the 5 major areas of chemistry (analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry).

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS

Although not a strict deadline, we highly recommend that you submit your application and all materials (see requirements) by Feb 27, 2008 to be considered for financial support and special fellowships.
