PROGRAMS OF STUDY
The Department of Chemistry enrolls students in the Ph.D. program with
research specialization in analytical, biological, inorganic,
organic, and physical chemistry. Students are admitted
into the PhD program for the Fall semester only, beginning in mid-August.
Research projects in cross-disciplinary areas such as biophysical, bioinorganic, bioorganic, organometallic, and materials chemistry are also available. Ph.D. students take a balanced program of course work, seminars, and research. During their first year, students establish proficiency by exams and/or courses in 3 of
the 5 major areas of chemistry (analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry).
DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS
Although not a strict deadline, we highly recommend that you submit your application and all materials (see requirements) by February 12, 2010 to be considered for financial support and special fellowships.
