The Chemistry Department of Wayne
State University will be holding its ninth annual Graduate Research
Symposium on October 6, 2007.
In
the past,
this symposium was used to recognize graduate students by allowing them to
present their research findings to the scientific community. This event
also served the purpose of introducing the new chemistry graduate students
to the cutting edge research in the department, and now includes prospective
graduate students and their faculty advisors from regional undergraduate
institutions as a means to acquaint them with our department.
This is an exciting time to be a chemistry graduate student at WSU. With our recent and future acquisitions of a 700 MHz NMR, an ESI and a MALDI mass spectrometer, a TEM, as well as new faculty members, we are positioning ourselves to be a national leader in the development of chemists with advanced degrees. Our ability to attract the best students will be further strengthened by this symposium. The Ph.D. chemists produced in our department are employed throughout the world in academic and industrial settings. This Year's Symposium will be held at Welcome Center Auditorium. This building is located on 42 W. Warren.
We look forward to seeing you at this year's symposium. The Graduate Research
