The Chemistry
Department of Wayne State University will be holding its Sixth T. T. Tchen
Memorial Lecture
May 2nd, 2008
at 3:30 PM, Welcome Center Auditorium

Dr. Tchen was a highly
respected member of our faculty and played an integral role in
the
transformation of our department into one of international prominence. The
Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry Division, has established this
annual
Biochemistry lecture in honor of Dr. Tchen.
These lectures are organized
by students to give graduate students an opportunity to interact with
prominent
scientists.
This
Year's T. T. Tchen Memorial lecture guest speaker is
Prof.
Sarah Woodson, Johns Hopkins University
ÒRNA
folding: from
ribozymes to ribosomesÓ

Prof. Woodson focuses on RNA folding
in dynamic systems such as group I introns and the ribosome, using various
techniques ranging from fast Fenton
footprinting and synchroton X-ray to laser
T-jump.

Directions:
The seminar
will be held at Welcome Center Auditorium, followed by a reception. The Welcome
center is located on 42 W. Warren, on the northwest
corner of Woodward Avenue
and Warren Avenue in Detroit.
