Dr. Tchen was a highly respected member of our faculty and played an integral role in the transformation of our department into one of international prominence. The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry Division, has established this annual Biochemistry lecture in honor of Dr. Tchen.

These lectures are organized by students to give graduate students an opportunity to interact with prominent scientists.

This Year's T. T. Tchen Memorial lecture guest speaker is

Prof. Sarah Woodson, Johns Hopkins University

ÒRNA folding: from ribozymes to ribosomesÓ

Prof. Woodson focuses on RNA folding in dynamic systems such as group I introns and the ribosome, using various techniques ranging from fast Fenton footprinting and synchroton X-ray to laser T-jump.

Directions:

The seminar will be held at Welcome Center Auditorium, followed by a reception. The Welcome center is located on 42 W. Warren, on the northwest corner of Woodward Avenue and Warren Avenue in Detroit.
